Refrigerator Repair

If you are the owner of select LG refrigerators, your model may have come with a drawer between the freezer and the refrigerator compartment known as the CustomChill drawer. Every food has a temperature that it is best served at. Seafood should be kept at a chilly 29 degrees, cool drinks best served at 33 degrees, and wine at 42 degrees. This is the purpose of the drawer, but if it is no longer working, then it can be a major waste of space in your LG refrigerator.

Most commonly, this drawer will seem to lose all power and functionality. When this happens, the drawer should be removed and inspected. The cause of this issue is typically a loose wire connection. In the back of your CustomChill drawer, there is a wire harness that connects it to the power, if this is loose, it will produce unpredictable results or complete non-functionality.

To check the wire harness, extend the drawer out fully so that you can remove the separators and the tubs of the CustomChill drawer. Once done, you will be able to see and reach the wire harness behind the rail. Even if it is not disconnected, check to make sure the wire harness is securely connected. You may also wish to check the wire harness for bent pins or cuts in the wire that will display that it needs to be replaced.

If the wire harness was not loose, disconnected, or damaged, non-function may be the result of a damaged control board in the drawer. Typically, this repair is a little more than most homeowners are looking to handle. It may be best to call a repair technician that is experienced in dealing with some of the new LG brand refrigerators. It is always a shame when you have a nice feature on a refrigerator, but it doesn’t actually work because you don’t know how to fix it.
